Public Access Terminal Usage Procedures (Digby & Yarmouth)

  1. The user must hold a valid Western Counties Regional Library card. New cards are free. Replacement cards cost a small fee.

  2. Any visitors who wish to use the public access terminals, but who do not have a Western Counties Regional Library card, may register for a visitor card at the circulation desk..

  3. Computer time is booked in individual sessions of 60 minutes. A user can book two 60-minute sessions each day. At the end of each 60-minute session, a patron can continue to use the computer for an additional 60 minutes providing/if no one else has booked that computer. If a session is terminated before the 60 minutes have expired, the session is still counted as one session.

  4. Bookings for all computers can be done at the Reservation Terminal. Computers not in use can be booked individually. Advanced bookings can be done by telephone or at the Reservation Terminal. Computers can be booked for up to one week in advance.

  5. A user who has pre-booked a time slot, and who is more than ten minutes late for the appointment, will forfeit the booking.

  6. Not more than two people are permitted at a computer workstation at one time.

  7. Print-outs may be done for the user by the library staff. There will be a charge per 8½ x 11 sheet.

  8. Staff assistance with computer use will be given whenever time and knowledge permit.

  9. Misuse of the computer, including any violation of the Code of Ethics, will result in the loss of library privileges according to usual library procedures.
