Western Counties Regional Library offers wireless access to the Library’s Internet service in all library locations.
Wireless users must provide a wireless device with a WiFi-compliant 802.1 lb wireless Ethernet device or built-in WiFi capability. Users must also provide headphones for audio. Printers are not available via the wireless connection. If users wish to print, they must save information to a disk.
Access is available by connecting to the library’s wireless network. A splash page will appear asking for a user name and password for login. This must be obtained from the front desk of the library branch. All users must present valid ID or a current library membership card to obtain a login. Logins are valid for periods of 1 day, 7 days or 28 days, depending on the user’s needs and at the discretion of library staff. There is no restriction on the number of hours of access per day.
Users must abide by the Library’s Internet Code of Ethics and must sign the User Release and Indemnity Form. Users under 19 must have the form signed by a parent or guardian. Privacy will be maintained as per the Library’s Privacy Policy. Logins will be tracked for statistical purposes only, unless there is evidence of illegal activity.
The Library’s wireless network is not secure. Information sent from or to a wireless device can be captured by anyone else with a wireless device and the appropriate software, within three hundred feet. The Library assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment, configuration of wireless devices, security, or data files resulting from connection to the Library’s network. Patrons are responsible for the security of their own system. Library staff cannot provide technical assistance, and no guarantee can be provided that the user will be able to make a wireless connection.
