Admiral Digby Library & Historical Society

• 1966 - Creation of the Digby Library Association
  
  
• 1966 - 69 - Development and finding a permanent home for the Admiral Digby Library; the purchase of the Woodrow House on Montague Row
  
  
• 1970 - Admiral Digby Library was formally opened to the public.
  
  As part of a move to regionalization, the Admiral Digby Library became part of the Western Counties Regional Library as its Digby branch.
  
  The Digby Courier reported that from a "mere handful of people " and with an "inauspicious beginning, a spark was ignited setting a chain reaction from which have come libraries from Digby to the South Shore, and as a final outgrowth, the Admiral Digby Museum."
  
  
• 1972 - The name was changed to the Admiral Digby Library and Historical Society and the "Woodrow House" became the Admiral Digby Museum.
  
  
• 1977 - The Digby Library Association transferred ownership of the museum to the Admiral Digby Library and Historical Society.
  
  
• 1980 - The Digby Library branch moved to new quarters in the recently built Town Hall.
  
  
• 1981 - The Admiral Digby Museum received official accreditation as a Community Museum.
  
  
• 1981 - Present - A gradual expansion with added artifacts, archival materials, and historical and cultural events. Expansion of the building (1966) to its present size.
  
  

• Sharing microfilms of official statistical information of the people of Digby and area communities, and copies of the Digby Courier from 1877 - 1978;
  
  
• Having a representative from the Admiral Digby Library and Historical Society on the Board of Directors of the Western Counties Regional Library.
