How To Download Audiobooks or E-Books

Thursday, Feb. 9, 2 to 4 p.m.

Learn to download audiobooks and e-books to your computer or mobile device from the library's digital collection. Bring your laptop, MP3 player, eReader, iPod, Kobo or other mobile device and learn what you need to do to start accessing library books on your electronic mobile device.

Puppet Show

Thursday, Feb. 9, 6 to 6:15 p.m.

All ages can enjoy a 15-minute puppet show featuring a variety of stories and characters.

Valentine Stories and Craft

Tuesday, Feb. 14, 3 to 4 p.m.

Children ages four to seven years can come to the Yarmouth library for an hour of Valentine stories and create a Valentine mouse from 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Participants are asked to register by Monday, Feb. 13 by calling the branch at 742-5040 or e-mailing yarmouth@nsy.library.ns.ca. Please include the program name in the subject line and your name and phone number in the e-mail.

Mid-Week Break: Mongolia and the Gobi Desert

Wednesday, Feb. 15, 12 to 1 p.m.

Ann and Ron Day share their adventures in Mongolia, including attending the Naadam festival and living in a ger (traditional Mongolian home) on the Gobi desert. Mid-Week Break runs every Wednesday from 12 to 1 p.m., Feb. 15, 22 and 29 at the Yarmouth library. Bring your lunch and enjoy! Coffee and tea will be available.

Toastmasters

Thursday, Feb. 16, 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.

Develop public speaking and leadership skills through the Yarmouth Chapter of Toastmasters International. The club meets at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library in Yarmouth on the first, third and fifth Thursdays of every month at 12:15 p.m. New members are welcome. Scrapbook Club 

Saturday, Feb. 18, 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Join other scrapbookers ages 13 and older and work to complete projects and learn new techniques from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Feb. 18. Participants will be completing a greeting card and scrapbook layout with a spring theme. Call 742-5040 for the supply list. Space is limited to 12. Kids Night Out

Kids Night Out is a fun-filled hour for children eight to 12 years of age, every third Tuesday of the month at the Yarmouth library. Participants are asked to register by Monday, Feb. 20 by calling or e-mailing the library.

Mid-Week Break: Morocco in 10 Days

Wednesday, Feb. 22, 12 to 1 p.m.

Anne Schleit talks about her trip to Morocco in 2009. Her trip started on the coast in Casablanca, travelled east to the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara desert at Erfoud, west to Ouarzazate and back to Casablanca. Mid-Week Break runs every Wednesday from 12 to 1 p.m. through February at the Yarmouth library. Bring your lunch and enjoy! Coffee and tea will be available.

Writing Memoirs

April 9, 16, 23, May 8, 14 and 22, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Author Sandra Phinney will facilitate a writing memoirs workshop for people 50 and older over six weeks, beginning Monday, April 9. The workshops are a great opportunity to improve your writing skills and record your personal stories for the next generation. There is a limit of 12 participants, and people must register by Sunday, April 1 by calling or e-mailing the library.
